How long do the tournaments last?

  • The length of the tournaments depends on how many teams participate. Plan for 3-5 days depending on how far your team advances.

How many games do we play in each tournament?

  • The format of the tournament is typically group stage and tournament stage, so you play a minimum of 3-4 games. Again this will depend on the number of teams that enter the tournament and can vary greatly tournament to tournament.

When are practices?

  • Practice frequency and duration are up to the coaches, but players should be available as much as possible while still competing.

Are there plans for local tournament teams?

  • Yes. Our goal is to make summer tournament baseball available to as many players as possible.
  • If there is a second team in any age group, that team will participate in local tournaments and is not bound by the Ripken tournament schedule given above. Local tournament teams have a lot of flexibility with when and where they play.
  • It is possible for SWYB to send multiple teams in an age group to Ripken tournaments, but all players must meet the eligibility requirements to make this possible. Local tournament teams have more flexible eligibility requirements (see above).
