Pitching Rules

  1. Any player on a team's official roster may pitch. Players not on the team's official roster (e.g. play-ups or fill-ins) may only pitch as a last resort and only with permission from the opposing team's Head Coach.
    • Note: There is no limit to the number of pitchers a team may use in a game.
  2. Once a pitcher has been removed from the mound, that pitcher can return as a pitcher but cannot exceed the pitch count limit.
  3. Each team will record pitch counts in a scorebook for each pitcher of record each inning and report to each other between half innings to confirm counts.
    • If there is a discrepancy, the home team's scorebook will be official.
    • If the home team is not keeping a scorebook, the visiting team's scorebook will be official.
    • Any disputed pitch counts should be reported to the Division Coordinator and/or the Executive Board.
  4. Each players pitch count record must be entered in our pitching log after the game in order to be eligible to pitch in the next available game
    • Note: Location of pitch log to be defined by coordinator prior to start of the season.
  5. Pitches delivered in games declared “Regulation Tie Games” or “Suspended Games” shall be charged against pitcher’s eligibility for the day that the game took place.
  6. The manager must remove the pitcher when the pitcher reaches the limit for his/her age group as noted above, but the pitcher may remain in the game at another position.
  7. If a pitcher reaches the limit imposed in the above maximum  pitches per day, or reaches the threshold pitch limits for required calendar days of rest for his/her league age while facing a batter, the pitcher may continue to pitch until any one of the following conditions occurs:
    • That batter reaches base
    • That batter is put out
    • The third out is made to complete the half-inning
  8. In suspended games resumed on another day, the pitchers of record at the time the game was halted may continue to pitch to the extent of their eligibility for the day the game is resumed on, provided said pitcher has observed the required days of rest.
